5 Helpful Packing Tips

Whether you’re a last minute packer or a well organised planner, preparing for your holiday can be stressful. So here are 5 quick tips I’ve learnt that make packing go smoother.
1. Spread your clothes across many suitcases.
There’s nothing worse than losing your suitcase and having to spend your holiday buying new clothes or borrowing from your friends. A good way to make life easier, should this ever happen, is to spread your clothes across all your cases. Or if you're travelling with friends or family, put some items in their bags and vice versa.
If you and whoever you travel with put a few outfits in each other's suitcases, if you're unlucky enough to lose one case, you'll both still have some clothes to wear while you're on holiday.
2. Check the weather for your destination before you pack.
It’s best to check the weather forecast for the duration of your stay about a week before you travel. You don’t want to get off the plane and only have a bikini to wear in the thunder storm that's coming the next day.

It's a good idea to check the weather forecast before you travel.
By knowing the weather beforehand, you will have a better idea of what clothes to pack. You can also start planning activities you want to do on each day depending on the weather.
3. Use all available spaces, no matter how small.
Not enough room to pack the important things? To free up some space in your suitcase, it’s a good idea to tuck smaller items inside your shoes. Socks, underwear, tops and even small bottles of shampoo or other toiletries could be slipped into your shoes to help organise your bags.
4. Weigh your suitcase before you go to the airport.
Some airlines have a limit on the weight of your luggage and will charge you if you go over the maximum. There's been instances where I've seen people frantically trying to stuff their belongings into their hand luggage at the check-in desk.

Weigh your suitcases before going to the airport.
To avoid the embarrassment and time wasting of this, it's a good idea to buy some low cost luggage scales. You can use these to check the weight of your bags before travelling to the airport.
5. Roll your clothes instead of folding.
Have you ever had to do absolutely everything to try and zip up your suitcase? Try rolling your clothes instead of folding them. It makes more room in the suitcase and tends to stop clothes from creasing so much. So you'll be able to throw on an outfit when you arrive and start enjoying your holiday.
Hopefully these few tips will make packing easier for you. Let me know if you have any of your own tips or tricks that you always rely on when packing.
